I have a confession…

….I cry my eyeballs out while watching Grey’s.

I feel like doing a life update post- mostly for myself.  My life feels like a non-stop amazing movie. I want to have some place to put it all down. Some place where I can see this- and fall in love with it over and over again.

I am healthy ( relative term), alive and happy. It blows my mind that I get to be in school, and learn and experience love and friendships.

My classes are CRAZY hard- I have two exams and a 8-10 page story to work on. Being in 400-level classes is AMAZING. First of all, am I allowed to be taking these classes? I love learning about the biochemistry of our bodies.

I can’t even begin to wrap my mind around all the chemical processes that happen in our bodies. They are all the same. For every single one of us. All I have to say is that we are amazing human beings.

College is said to be the BEST time of your life, does that mean being an old lady and falling asleep as soon as your head hits the pillow?

That is basically what my life has been like.

I am in love with my internship.

Me and my LOVELY volunteers at a charity auction- one of the best nights of my life by far 🙂

There is sooo much that has been going on in my life for the past month- I can’t even write it down because its a big blur.

We had our holiday EID which was filled with yummies and more yummieseid

As you can tell, it was a blasty!

In my next post I will be talking about my injury and how my college eating habits are going.

Night night!

“Let’s go baby!”

Maybe, it comes from being a tennis player and having to depend on myself to get pumped up. But I love having the ability to be my own mental support. Healthy living is not only about putting the best food into our bodies, it encompasses our mind, body and soul. What good is eating healthy food if you feel awful?

There is a lot of negativity in our day to day lives and many of us- including myself use food to soften the blow. Food is a source of comfort and enjoyment. The taste, the smell, the flavor. Its an all around enjoyment. It is important to be mentally strong when starting off on a new food journey when you don’t see results right away.

I am a results oriented person, if things are going well for me in class, I feel happy and confident with my performance. With my friends I respond well to affection and interest in my life, I give back to what I get, and continue on a healthy relationship. The problems occur when there is a shift in the pattern. When I get low scores on exams or negative feed back from an instructor I am at a loss as to what I should change. Am I not smart enough? Do I have poor study habits? All of these thoughts are overwhelming and I tend to go back to the root of what worked for me in the past. I stick to what I know. Even with friends- when I don’t feel the response that I get back is in a positive or encouraging tone I do revert back to myself and see what kind of a friend I am being. If I am understanding, supportive or playing the right role of a friend?

I would like to keep the same relationship with food as I do with all the other things in life. With positive energy there are positive feelings which breed powerful and strong human beings.

QUESTION: How do you make sure you are staying mentally strong and positive?

Blogging is not for the weak

WARNING: this sport is not for the faint of heart.

Its been on of those this is my life days. I would post pictures of my eating’s. However I did not eat 😦  How am I supposed to keep a healthy living blog?Let’s backtrack.

Today, was the first day at my 3-week bookstore job and lets just say it took everything out of me. Its not that I have never worked before, I have just never had a job like this. Teaching aerobics and volunteering is DEMANDING, however; I have not faced anything like this.

I woke up at 8:30, yes I was late for my 9am shift at the bookstore. Its a good thing I live 15 minutes away from school. Because I woke up so late I did not even have time to grab a breakfast. My training shift was from 9-2pm but I did not realize I would only get a 15 min break. That only gave me enough time to use the ladies room and walk back. Because it was my first time as a cashier, I was taught a WHOLE bunch of things and then just set off with customers. I felt bad when I could not help them. I kept reminding myself that doing something new was good for me and that I was not too terrible 🙂

After 6 hours of standing I booked it home and passed out on my couch ( my feet are KILLING me) and my mom brought my indian pizza. Perks of living at home, at this rate I will never move out.

Home-cooked meals, EVERY NIGHT!!!

So here is where I am at a loss, this is going to be my life starting from September 1st. I won’t be able to eat food, even if I do bring it. This brings me right back to my original problem of getting ALL of my calories when the day ends. And by that point, I don’t care what I eat.

College life is NOT the most healthy, but I don’t want to be like everyone else. I want to do better, and treat my body better. I think the key factor that I am missing is BREAKFAST. If I could wake up early enough to grab something, I might be able to maintain some what of a healthy lifestyle.

For dinner I ate white basmati rice with sweet  and sour chicken 🙂

The love of my life 🙂

Net books are AMAZING, I don’t know what I would do without my baby, I just slip it into my handbag and I am off!

So that is my flash drive, its soooo small I WILL lose it, can I attach it to something? String? Bread tie? Key chain?

QUESTION: Am I the only one who “skips” breakfast?

Sad day :(

I have decided to stop working out until my injury gets better 😦

Learn to eat better thats for sure. I depend on exercise too much to lose weight- because I just don’t diet.

But 😦 *Big girl pouting* I am not good at not being able to run around and let my stress out. But I have to get better and I am not helping myself- after my workout yesterday I was stiff  with nerve pain down my leg. So until I get better I will be in rest mode and stay AWARE of my eating habits.

My cheer up lunch today was an INDIAN PIAZZA!!!!! I ❤ Trader Joe’s!!!!!!!

Still no picture 😦 But it SOOOO tasty, you will just have to take my word for it! Our camera is STILL not back from being fixed .

So MAJOR pet peeve of mine: Getting bits of GOD KNOW WHAT in  my laptop keyboard. The keys get stuck and you have to push it twice to get the letter. BLACH I just spent ten minutes poking at my F key with a tooth pick. and SUCCESS!

So this blog is not just to talk about my food and fitness life. Its also about my personal and school life. I am currently trying to figureout what I want to do after college. Before college I wanted to go to med school right away; however after taking all my premed classes I just don’t have the GPA to do so. Its not a HORRIBLE GPA but I want to be a strong applicant. Especially going into a competitive field such as this.

So I am looking into getting my masters in Epidemiology, where basically I would get to study Swine flu and other diseases. In order to do this I need to take the GRE, looking at my overall academic performance I am what you would say is the “average” student. Whenever I look at the average score in my classes, my score is right around there. Now this is nothing to be ashamed of, but we can all wish to be a genius, right? To take this exam in about a year, ideally for myself I need to start studying now, and in between trying to finish up with a summer class and not burn out before the semester, I need to plan this accordingly.

Even at the age of 20 my future feels a LLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOONNNNGG way off but it will be here before I know it 🙂

Anyways I could ramble on forever but I have to go hunt down an ice pack and study!

My New Obsession

The other day I decided to hop into Trader Joe’s and see what it had to offer. Mind you I eat from a “normal” grocery store Giant and we are also Costco members.

One thing I LOVEE about Costso is the FREEE SAMPLES! Not going to lie, sometimes i eat my lunch there. SHHHH! Who doesn’t?

So while looking around Trader Joe’s I came across FREEE samples so I had to try them.

Indian Pizza! Being Indian myself I was super excited to try this.
